 PTO Updates

First PTO Meeting is Monday, Sept 14 at 5:30 pm in the JFK Library. The agenda, as well as a link to descriptions of the PTO board positions, is available on our blog.  Elections will be held at this meeting.

You can sign up for the school directory from a link on the blog or just go to: http://goo.gl/forms/wU3aHSwvj6   The only way to be included in the directory is to sign up on line, there are no paper forms.  Computers will be available in the library at the open house Thursday, Sept 24.

We could use a few volunteers for picture day, Thursday, Sept 17^th in shifts between 8-11:30.  Volunteers need to have current CORI checks to help in this or other events this school year.  You can check on your CORI by contacting VINS.  Reply to this email if you would like to volunteer!

School Council

 Elections for school council will be held at the Open House, Thursday, Sept 24^th.  The Council is an advisory group co chaired by the Principal and a parent elected by the council, which meet every 3^rd Thursday of the month as posted on the school calendar.  Please submit a letter of interest to the JFK PTO by replying to this email or to the mailbox at school by Monday, Sept 21.  Community Updates

 Meeting to discuss Fair Share Campaign– A statewide initiative to pass a graduated income tax and provide stable funding for public education in Massachusetts is Wednesday, Sept 16, 7-9 pm JFK Community Room

Northampton Prevention Coalition presents Helping Teens make Healthy Choices Sunday, Sept 13, 3-6 pm, Northampton Survival Center, Motivational interviewing with John Brelsford, PhD for parents of 12-18 year olds.

Mayor's Youth Commission for students 13-18 years of age has it's first meeting of the season Wednesday, Sept 16^th at 7 pm at City Hall. Applications are available on the website, or just come to a meeting to discuss city issues relevant to Northampton youth.
