JFK Open House (9/20 at 6:30pm)
Parents and
guardians are invited to attend the JFK Open House. The evening will begin with
homeroom and then classroom visits. Come early and learn about the PTO and
afterschool program. The library will hold a Sponsor a Book campaign and you
can purchase books for the library. It’s a great way to honor someone. There
will also be an election for School Council seats. If you are interested in
serving, please contact the main office before September 18. If you need
transportation to school or childcare while here, please call 413-587-1489.
Note: This
event is for parents and guardians only. Unfortunately, we do not have room for
students, siblings, or young children to attend the classroom presentations.
Please be looking for other activities during the year for students and
families. Childcare will be available for young children in our Community Room.
Family information
sessions will be held in the community room during the JFK Open House on 9/20
and also on Thursday 9/25 at 6:30pm. Learn about the Digital Driver’s License
and the Repair Strategy, charging stations and more.
Sign Up to
Volunteer at JFK
In order to
volunteer in Northampton Public Schools, every parent or guardian needs to fill
out a “CORI” in the school office. The CORI volunteer application is good for 3
years. You can learn more at this VINS link or in the office. It only takes a few
minutes but helps a lot!
… And
Volunteer for Picture Day (9/25)!
JFK staff is
seeking volunteers for our upcoming fall picture day. We need about 6 adults to
come to school on Tuesday, September 25 in one- or two-hour shifts from
8-11:30am. This is a great chance to get a glimpse of your student’s world at
JFK. It a fun quick volunteer experience for parents or guardians new to JFK.

It’s a
Carnival Celebrating the Northampton Public Schools!
Sunday,
September 23, 12-4pm at JFK Middle School
The
Northampton Public School Carnival is a joint effort between the Parent Teacher
Organizations of all six Northampton Public Schools and School Local
Northampton. The all-ages, community-wide carnival will feature games and
prizes, a bounce house, obstacle course, glitter tattoo, face painting, and
refreshments. Community organizations staffing informational tables include
Racial Equity and Learning (REAL), Special Education Parent Advisory Council
(SEPAC), the Northampton Survival Center, Smith Art Museum, Forbes Library, and
the Girl Scouts and we’ll have information about the Northampton Public Schools
available for interested parents. A shuttle service will stop at each
Northampton elementary school, Florence Heights, and Meadowbrook Apartments to
simplify parking and transportation. Rain date is Sunday, September 30.
100% of the
net proceeds from this event will go directly to public school PTOs for student
enrichment programs. Check out this event of Facebook at this link: www.facebook.com/events/222253581943608
The carnival
also needs lots of volunteers to make it a success! Sign up to help at the link below. www.signupgenius.com/go/9040b48a4a629a57-community
Next JFK
PTO Meeting (10/2 from 6-7:30pm)
Our October
PTO meeting will be held Tuesday, October 2 at 6pm in the JFK library. We will
discuss upcoming events, hear from administration and staff and review plans
for the year. It’s a great way to learn about what’s going on day to day at JFK
and to connect with other parents/guardians.
