JFK PTO Update – August 28, 2017

Welcome Back to School Huskies!

Ready, set, go! The first official day of school is this Wednesday August 30. Please arrive to school before 7:55am. If you are driving your student to school please use the parent/guardian drop off area accessed by the driveway closest to Look Park. Please do not use the Bus Loop.  Remember, it's always a smart idea to get a good night's sleep and eat a hearty breakfast in the morning.

August 30 – Cookie Social 6:30pm-7:30pm

September 5 – First JFK PTO Meeting, 6pm at JFK in the Library

September 28 – JFK Open House 6:30pm-8pm

September 28 – Picture Day

Welcoming New Huskies at the 6^th Grade Cookie Social

JFK welcomes our 6th graders and their families after the first day for a cookie social on Wednesday evening, August 30 from 6:30-7:30pm in the cafeteria. Cookies and lemonade will be served! Get the lay of the land and check out your student's locker and homeroom. The PTO will be there with information about how to stay informed and get involved at JFK.

Happy August Huskies! We hope you've been enjoying a safe and fun filled summer! With just over two weeks left until school starts we have a couple of upcoming events and announcements to share.

Each year in August the Northampton Arts Council and the Parent Teacher Organizations of Northampton's public school system join forces to raise funds for arts enrichment in the schools and for the ArtsEZ grant program. Once again, on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017 it's time to celebrate our community and the arts with Transperformance 27: Rock N Roll Heaven Revisited, THE end-of-the-summer music festival at Pines Theater-Look Park.

6^th Grade Cookie Social

JFK welcomes our 6th graders and their families to JFK at a cookie social on Wednesday August 30 from 6:30 -7:30pm in the cafeteria. Cookies and lemonade will be served! Come mingle, take a tour and meet new friends.

News from JFK PTO

Here at JFK PTO we have been gearing up for the start of the school year on Wednesday August 30th. We have a new PTO President and we are looking for more parents and guardians to join our team. Please look for our PTO volunteer form that will come home on the first day of school. We are seeking a Treasurer and Secretary on our PTO board. Please see job descriptions below.

Seeking PTO Treasurer: Tasks include attending monthly board meetings, preparing a financial report, reconciling accounts and issuing funds. The time commitment is about 3 or 4 hours a month. Most of the work can be done on your own schedule—after the kids are in bed, during the day, after work, whatever suits you best. If you are interested or want more information please contact us at jfkmspto@gmail.com.

Seeking PTO Secretary: This job involves attending monthly PTO meetings, taking notes and e-mailing them to the group. It requires about 2 to 3 hours a month. It's an opportunity to get to know what's going on day to day at JFK and to help allocate funding to projects and programs for our students.
