JFK PTO Updates


Daylight Savings Time ends Sunday, Nov 2.  Fall back!
 

PTO News:
Next Meeting- Monday, Nov 3, 5:30 pm

Remember the small fundraisers – on our blog – Stop and Shop (Hint – JFK is in Florence), FSB Community Choice ( on line) Box tops and Coke caps, Amazon Smile. 

After School Program updates:
We will hold the "JFK Mall" Holiday Fair on Thursday, December 4 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  There will be crafters, vendors, a huge raffle and of course a bake sale. We are always looking for new vendors and/or crafters.  We only have 1 vendor per company (1 for avon, tupperware etc.).   If anyone is interested they can contact Peggy Clapp either via email or at home (586-1242).  Thanks for your help and continued support.

Community Events:
Comcast offers Internet access for $9.95 a month if the family qualifies for free or reduced lunch, also a low cost computer.  More information here: internetessentials
Sports Options for Middle School:
Western Mass FC is holding spring soccer tryouts for boys and girls between ages 7 and 14 on Saturday Nov. 1 and Sunday Nov. 2 at Smith Vocational High School (80 Locust St) in Northampton. Teams will be competing in MAPLE and/or PVJSL. Tryouts will be held for a boys U10 Maple team (boys born on or after August 1, 2004). 
Girls' tryouts will be from 3-4pm both days
Boys' tryouts will be from 4-5pm both days

JFK PTO Updates

PTO News:

The JFK Microwave in the cafeteria for students was originally bought by the PTO, so when it broke a week ago, we replaced it with another commercial grade appliance.  Your PTO donations at work!

After School Program Information:

Is your student interested in sports, writing, or art?  The after school program is a great way for your student to spend time with friends doing enrichment activities that are interesting and fun.  Openings are still available in all the classes except for cooking.   Information and registrations are available at the front office.

 

The JFK Holiday Fair is coming up.  Come to the After School Advisory and find out how you can help at the sale, which supports the After School Program activities.  Meeting is Wednesday, Oct 22, 5:00 in the JFK conference room.  Call Mrs. Clapp 587-1489 for further details on classes or the meeting.

Community Events:

The Northampton Public Schools Action Coalition and the Northampton Human Rights Commission are hosting a public forum on high stakes testing, Thursday, October 23rd from 7-8:30pm in the Northampton High School Library (childcare will be provided). More information at: Facebook Event Page

5K for Farmland & Farmers' Market Festival. Sunday, October 19, 11 am. Fast 5K run or 2-mile walk in scenic farmland at Hadley Town Common. Post-race festival with live music; farmers' market with local food and other products; nature exhibits; entertainment for kids; and more! Register at kestreltrust.org.
