The JFK MS After School Program is
ready to start the third and final session of the current school year. This
session runs Tuesday, March 20 to Thursday, May 3. All registration forms are due
today, Friday, March 16.
Friday, March 23 is the Sixth
Grade Dance… The Masquerade Ball!
Big thanks to the Student Council
for organizing two great dances this year with the support of the PTO. The sixth grade dance is scheduled
for next Friday, March 23 from 6:30 to 8pm. Tickets are available for purchase
by students only during 6th grade lunch time on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next
week. PLEASE NOTE: ALL TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE. NO TICKETS WILL BE
SOLD AT THE DOOR. Flyers went home Thursday with all the info. To review the

volunteers as chaperones as well as snack contributions. We welcome (and need)

REAL (Racial Equity And
Learning) Northampton this Sunday, March 18 at JFK
REAL Northampton invites you to a
story sharing event on Sunday, March 18 from 3-5pm in the JFK Community Room.
Come and build community through sharing something about your experience of
race and racism in the Northampton Public School Community. Trained
facilitators will create the space for everyone who wants to share. Everybody
is welcome – students (6th grade and up), staff, teachers, caregivers and all
identities. There will be food and childcare. REAL (Racial Equity And Learning)
Northampton is funded by the Northampton Education Foundation and is comprised
of teachers, staff, students, and family members across the district. The
overall mission of REAL is to support and strengthen our school community by
developing an intentionally anti-racist culture. RSVP’s encouraged but not

Community Outreach Hearing, Wednesday, March 21 at 5pm
The Northampton Prevention
Coalition wants parents to know there will be a community outreach hearing on
Tuesday, March 21 at 5pm at the Northampton Senior Center regarding the NETA
Inc. adult-use marijuana establishment at 118 Conz Street. Interested residents
may hear about the proposal and ask questions at the hearing. For more

Northampton Education
Foundation Adult Spelling Bee on Wednesday, March 21 at 6pm
On March 21, the Northampton
Education Foundation will hold its beloved annual event, the Adult Spelling
Bee, for the 18th time. Funds from the NEF Spelling Bee support the Small
Grants for Teachers program started in 1991 and reaching virtually all grade
levels, program areas and disciplines. Last year, NEF was able to award an
amazing 21 grants equaling $49,317 to fund creative and innovative grants
written by the teachers, administrators, and parents of the Northampton Public

Pioneer Valley March for Our Lives,
Saturday, March 24 at 12pm
This march will begin at
Northampton High School and continue to City Hall.
The rally at City Hall will feature student speakers and performers, amplifying
youth voices. There will also be a portion of this event for the youngest
marchers. They will march into the lower level of the Unitarian Universalists
Church where kids will be read stories by local children book authors and
teachers. They also plan to incorporate music and dance into their activities.

UMass Symposium, Marijuana
Legalized: Research, Practice & Policy Considerations - Monday, April 2

Location: Amherst Room, Campus
Center. The UMass Amherst School of Public Health and Health Sciences presents
the next event in the Dean's Symposia Series: "Marijuana Legalized:
