The Scholastic Book fair is coming soon. Volunteers are needed to staff it. To sign up, please click on the sign up genius below. We will have a training session at 1:30 on Monday Dec 8, so if you need refresher on the cash box or haven't ever done it, you can get a change to play with the register and scanner. We plan to have at least 2 volunteers at a time so don't be nervous! Please remember you need to have a current CORI, contact Vins (vinsvolunteer@gmail.com) if you need to renew your certification. Please contact us with any questions, or any problems with sign up genius - this should be fun

School News:
There will be an optional informational meeting about the Eighth Grade French Trip to Quebec City. The meeting will be held in room 205 from 5:30 to 6:30 on Thursday, December 11. Please consider attending this meeting.... and the Book Sale and Art Show...all on the same evening! Contact Madame James atajames@northampton-k12.us for more information.
JFK's Gay Straight Alliance will be hosting an 8th grade Rainbow Dance on Friday January 30th from 6:30-8:30 in the cafeteria. They are looking for donations of baked goods, decorations (table cloths, streamers, glitter) and face paint. They are also looking for volunteers to help chaperone the dance. Proceeds will go to the Trevor Project, a non-profit founded in 1998 that offers free hotlines and services for LGBTQ teens to reduce the rate of teen suicide. Contact Alexandra Sprague asprague@northampton-k12.us to help out or donate.
Report cards will come home today. Please sign your child's report card tonight (there will be two copies) and send one in with your child tomorrow. Homeroom teachers will collect signed report cards during homeroom tomorrow.
Community Events:
A free, interactive parent-daughter workshop for girls 8-14 on Friday, December 5 will be held in Shutesbury at the Elementary School. Pizza dinner at 5, workshop 5:30 - 7. It will focus on how to identify a healthy vs. toxic friendship, strategies to communicate effectively, and ways to deal with mean jokes. Flyer for Rachel Simmons workshop
